Contact info, skill bars, and ratings drawn as images or icon fonts are not text. A parser cannot read what is not text.
Different words than the job posting
Recruiters often search by exact terms, and some systems treat "React" and "React.js" as separate words. Using the posting’s own wording keeps you findable.
Duties instead of results
"Responsible for APIs" says little. A reviewer can only weigh what you did if the bullet states the scope and what changed.

03What the checker looks at

You should know what a score is based on. Here is what the checker examines, and what it cannot tell you.
Structure
- Email, phone, LinkedIn, and GitHub present as plain text
- Standard headings for experience, education, skills, projects, and summary
- Overall length, flagged when very short or very long
Wording
- Bullets that start with an action verb
- Passive phrases such as “responsible for” and “worked on”
- First-person pronouns, filler words, and clichés such as “team player”
- Bullet length and consistent punctuation
Results and keywords
- Whether bullets contain measurable results such as percentages, durations, or scale
- Technology coverage against a pasted job description, or a built-in list of common developer technologies
- Spelling variants that searches may treat as different terms, such as React and React.js

No tool can promise that. Systems differ, and employers configure them differently. Devpply checks common causes of problems, such as multi-column layouts, missing text, and weak wording. The score is Devpply’s own scale, not a number any employer sees.
